Metrics: Fluidity Indexes

Fluidity measures how readily up-moving stocks are moving up, versus down-moving stocks moving down. Fluidity is tracked separately for the NYSE and Nasdaq.  We have separate upside and downside Fluidity measures, which although useful, are very complex to interpret. More straightforward are the Net Fluidity series, which oscillate positive and negative around zero value.

Fluidity is the basis of the PDQ performance, which prescribes over-weight equity timing when NYSE Net Fluidity is positive and rising, and under-weight condition when negative and falling.
