Metrics: Core Indexes

The Core indexes are uniquely constructed based on component performance.   Core performance focuses on stocks of notable action, but excludes stocks of extraordinary action.  Excluding both the mundane and the headliners, the Core indexes reflect a unique middle mass of market dynamics.

The Core Indexes are far more trendy than most stock indexes. Core trends often continue (up or down) even as conventional indexes are wandering in minor corrections and fluctuation.  When the market hesitates but the Cores continue, the latent Core direction usually wins.

Separate indexes are maintained for the NYSE and Nasdaq. The NYSE Core is shown here, along with an EMA smoothing.  Because of Core trendiness, oscillation over and under the EMAs yields productive directional indications... as in the CoreTrends Performance.
